Trend Inspiration: Swinging Sixties

       Sheridan Smith as Cilla

In Honour of the highly anticipated Cilla starting on ITV this week I thought I would dedicate this blog post all to the swinging sixties.
If you missed the first episode of Cilla from Monday, catch up with it on ITV player here in time for the new episode tomorrow, it really is a must see. Sheridan Smith as you would of guessed was amazing at playing the renouned Cilla Black. The show is also really great for getting some style inspiration for the autumn/winter 2014 trend.
Every season has its signunture decade, and this time it is the sixties, as seen at Louis Vuitton and Valetino's a/w 2014 shows. The Sixties I believe was really a revolution for the fashion world, with hem lines getting shorter and hair and make up getting bigger, it was one of the first time women and even men could have fun with fashion.

Like I said with hair and make up in the 60s it was very much bigger it better. Make up was focused on the eyes, cat flick eyeliner, smokey eyeshadow and clumly mascara were a must, while keeping the rest of your face very natural and neutral. Think nude lips and a light tint of blusher.
The hair saw the start of the beehive, which consists of a hell of a lot of back combing and hairspray.

When it comes to the Sixties there are 2 celebrities that spring to mind to really changeling this trend with a contemporary vibe, and that is pixie Lott and Ariana Grande. Both of them have the perfect legs to pull off a mini skirt and love a big hair do. To get some inspiration from the two see below..

To shop the trend check out some of the pieces I have picked out below. I hope you all got a little bit inspiration to rock the sixties trend yourselves.

Style Icon: Paloma Faith

At Burberry Prorsum SS15 show

Today is all about my Women Crush Wednesday, Paloma Faith.
After hearing Sigma's new song "changing" featuring Paloma Faith a couple of weeks ago at the Bournemouth air festival I got straight on my iTunes and pre-order that baby.
This week I finally got the tune on my phone and have been blasting it out my car singing along erratically on the way to work ever since.
Her voice is so beautiful with a real old soulful sound to it, this is such a great song to end the summer. If you haven't heard it (where have you been?) listen to it and watch the video below.

The reason this fabulous lady is my woman crush Wednesday and a influential style icon in her own right is because she is so daring and isn't afraid to hold back or care what people think. She has a retro and eccentric look that nobody else that could pull off and I believe always gets it right, to colour clashing with her bright orange hair to getting the prefect silhouette, taking inspiration from the 50's with wiggle dresses and full skirts which compliment her figure excellently. Every outfit you see her wear you cant help but love, even if it is ever so slightly quirky and I always think to myself I wish I could pull that off.
So let's just take a minute to admire some of her best outfits (in my opinion) I have chosen slightly more of her toned down looks from her as these are personally my favourites.

What do you think of Paloma Faith? Do you love her style?

Rocking flamingos

Hi all, happy Sunday hope you are having a lovely day.

Sorry I haven't posted for ages, no excuses I have just been rusbish.

So today I wanted to share with you this new co-ord set from cloclothes http://cloclothes.bigcartel.com
This set was hand made by the lovely Chloe at cloclothes, they have a huge range of lovely bits from co-ords to kimonos and Chloe is so helpful, brilliant customer service, I could not recommend better. I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it on the site the print is so vibrant and fun I just had to have it. Unfortunately it was all sold out, but the lovely Chloe came to my rescue and agreed to make me one which I am so grateful for. She also added some goodies for me with a matching scrunchie and clutch bag, how cute are they?
So on to how I styled it, with it now approaching autumn I thought I would give this a more transitional look by pairing it with my trusty leather jacket from new look and my lovely new cut out block heel boots for primark which I just love so much.

Hope you all like how I've styled it, I just think this a great way to take a summer outfit and make it wearable for autumn.

Ps. Sorry for the pasty white legs, I just couldn't be bothered to fake tan.
