Fashion: Lilac Coat & Heels

Coat: Missguided (Similar Here)
Top: River Island (Similar Here)
Jeans: New Look
Heels: New Look

I was obsessed with Lilac last year and I'm obsessed with lilac again this year. So when I saw these heels in New Look I just knew that my Missguided coat from last year had to come out again and make a reappearance.
As the coat is from last year it is no longer available, but I have linked a similar coat from Missguided which good news is in the sale!
I really love wearing heels with casual outfits such as ripped jeans and t-shirts. This t-shirt is from river island and I just love it, what girl doesn't love flamingos? I got this a few weeks ago now and unfortunately can not find it on their website anymore, but they have very similar ones with sea horses (maybe even cuter than flamingos?) and swans.

What colours are you loving from Spring?

Fashion: The £3 Primark Skirt!

Skirt: Primark
T-shirt - Tesco F&F
Leather Jacket - New Look (Similar Here)
Hat: H&M
Shoes: New Look (Similar Here)

Wow my legs are so white!! Please ignore the whiteness of my legs, can not wait to get a tan!!
So anyway onto the outfit, and lets start with this amazing skirt from Primark. This was such a bargain at only £3, yes that's right £3. Now I did get this a couple of weeks ago so not sure if its still available but how lovely is it? I really love these style skirts I find them super flattering and are a great length for keeping things classy and appropriate. I love the print and colour of this skirt as well. I wanted to keep the Skirt as the main vocal point for this outfit so have kept my accessories simple and black, with a pop of red lip to match the skirt.
As this was quite a girly outfit with the shoes, skirt and hat I chose to add a leather jacket to toughen up the look a bit. And what girly outfit wouldn't be complete without a big floppy hat?

Have you found any bargains from Primark lately?

Beauty: £20 mini boots Haul

Happy Easter Monday everyone.
I hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday and have stuffed yourself silly with chocolate? I know I have.

So todays post is just all about my little trip to Boots last weekend. My purpose of going to Boots was to get a new foundation and powder, and that was meant to be all! Then I saw they had 3 for 2 across all makeup and I also had a voucher for 200 boots points if I spent £20 and hey who can say no to an offer?

For details on what I brought keep reading...

So as I said the reason for my visit to Boots was to get a new foundation. I have been using the Max Factor Skin Luminizer foundation for a few months now. Which i adore, it is a lovely light to medium coverage and really does illuminate the skin. However at around £12 a bottle i wanted to see if i could find a slightly cheaper alternative. That's where this wake me up anti-fatigue foundation by rimmel comes in. At only £7.99 I thought I would give this one ago, as I already have the wake me up concealer which i love. This foundation illuminates the skin leaving a flawless nature looking finishing and is actually very moisturing as it is rich with vitamin C. The only thing i would say with this foundation is go a shade lighter than you think. I have gone for true ivory after testing it on my hand with ivory, however now i have used it on my face it is just slightly a shade too dark. Please tell me it isn't just me who struggles to get the right shade in the shop?

The next thing i picked up was this pressed powder from Miss Sporty. I have to say I don't normally buy Miss Sporty products, it tends to remind me of when your around 12/13 years old and your just getting started with make-up, but I am trying to save some pennies at the moment so thought I would give them another go. And boy am I glad I did. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this powder. This is their so matte perfect stay powder, and it does exactly that. it is really great for mattifying my foundation and lasts all day giving a natural look. Again i think it have gone a shade darker than I should of (I got 002 medium) but hey it is coming into spring/summer now so will be fine when I have a tan.

Next up is this amazing nail varnish from Barry M. Now this is completely an implus buy. I had no reason to buy a new nail varnish, and I did tell myself I would only look just to see what new pretty pastel colours they had for spring summer, but then I saw this gorgoues colour, I just couldn't resist. as you would of seen from my previous blog post, I am obsessed with all things mermaid at the moment, and this is really mermaid in a bottle. It is so bright and vivid once on the nail. This is part of their aquarium collection which is new, and I am not sure if it is a limited edition collection, so just to be on the safe side I would highly recommend snapping this up as soon as you can.

I was then on the hunt for a nice nude lip stick and lip liner to create the perfect Kylie Jenner Lip. This combo from rimmel ticks all the boxes. This is the lasting finish lip liner in shade 050 tiramisu and lasting finish lipstick by Kate Moss in shade 03. And oh my god I have literally worn this duo everyday since i got them. They look amazing together and give the perfect natural nude lip. I am in love, and I can not get over how mosituring this lipstick is for a matte lip stick. If you are looking for a cheap dupe to the Mac Velvet Teddy, then this is the lipstick for you.

Lastly I picked up this eye shadow quad from Miss Sporty. Again this wasn't something i needed, but at just £1.99 this got me to £20 so i could use my 200 points voucher. Sucker for a deal i know. But i have to say for £1.99 i am so impressed. The colours are actually really pigmented and super shimmery and just lovely pretty colours. This is the 408 smokey rose pallet and I have been really enjoying using this to create some lovely subtle smokey eye looks. I have also been using the pink shade as a blusher, so 2 in 1 what a bonus!! Great value for money.

And here is a selfie of me using these products, plus some extras.

Mermaid Shoes

Shoes: MissGuided
Bag: New Look
Jeans: New Look
Cami Top: River Island (Similar)
Duster Coat: Primark (Similar)

Lets just start with how amazing these shoes are? Right? What girl doesn't want to dress like a mermaid, and when I saw these on Sarah Ashcroft's (That Pommie Girl) Instagram I knew instantly I had to have them.
To keep the focus on the shoes I styled this outfit with an all black look. Wearing some on trend ripped jeans and a duster coat to keep the outfit looking casual and chic.
The cami top was from River Island last year. I just love these kind of tops to smarten up an outfit with a pair of jeans and River Island seem to stock variations of this style of top all the time.
Lastly the bag is from New look and I thought worked perfectly keeping with the iridescent theme of the shoes. It is more of a purple colour than silver like the shoes, But hey who cares when your one step closer to looking like a mermaid?

Afternoon Tea

Happy Monday!!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and all you Mothers had a lovely Mother's day and got truly spoilt.

For my Mum I decided to throw an afternoon tea at home. With all homemade cakes and sandwiches.
I absolutely adore afternoon teas, what's not to love, cute little triangle sandwiches yummy cakes and enough tea you can shake a stick at.

Essentials for a tea party have to be cute floral tea cups and saucers, cake stands and a classic big teapot. Great places for afternoon tea essentials are John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Fraser
A fresh crisp white table cover and gingham cover thrown over the top make for a classic rustic look. Along with some floral napkins and finish of the table with some freshly picked daffodils for the perfect centrepiece.

For the sandwiches I personally don't think you can beat the classics of chicken salad, cucumber, ham and egg and cress. of course cut into cut little triangles. If your feeling adventurous and creative why not use cookie cutters to cut your sandwiches into cute little hearts or any other fun shapes.

And lastly onto the best part of the whole tea, the cakes. As lets be honest no one really comes for the sandwiches.
I wanted to keep things very homemade and rustic so picked a classic Victoria sponge cake, scones with clotted cream and jam and the ultimate chocolate brownies to bake.
All the recipes I used were from BBC good food website. all these recipes were super easy and simple to follow.

Victoria Sponge - so i am going to be completely honest and say I was very disappointed with the method for this sponge cake. All it said was add all the ingredients together and mix. To be honest I am not sure why I done this as I have made cakes before and know to mix the sugar and butter together and then fold the flour in gradually. As this is what adds the air into the sponge make it light and fluffy. I found that following this method made my cake was very heavy and dense.
For the icing I done a simple buttercream topped with raspberry jam in the middle. On top was meant to be a light dusting of icing sugar. One tip do not use a shaker, or if you do get one that works properly. Mine just dropped like a big icing sugar bomb onto my cake and just made a massive mess of the kitchen.

Brownies - These are literally the nicest brownies I have ever tasted. Be warned though they are extremely chocolately and you will not need more than 1 in one sitting. This is the first time I have cooked brownies from scratch, (I normally cheat and buy brownie mixes) and found this recipe so easy to follow so could not recommend it more if you are looking for simple but delicious brownies.

Scones - I have never made scones before so was quite nervous about doing these and was anticipating having to pop to the shop last minute to pick some up. However these turned out amazingly, and again the recipe was super easy to follow. The only down side was the fell over in the oven and went a bit lopsided. But hey that just adds to the homemade rustic look right? You know you've baked well when you Nan tells you they are better than any scones she has made. Huge gold star for me :)

If you want to go all out head Here for some really great other bakes and ideas you can do for your afternoon tea.

Have you ever hosted an afternoon tea? How did it go? What did you serve?
